Worth Giving Up A Summer Night for
So I know it gets really hot at night. The blistering sun has baked your house all day and even the floorboards seem to be sweating… it’s not really an ideal time to watch a movie (unless of course you’re checking out the open air cinema I told you all about last week). But I have to say that if you’re brave enough to fire up the dvd player on a summer night sometime soon, you have to watch CONTROL.
Here’s the brief rundown:
“Control is a 2007 black-and-white biopic film about the late Ian Curtis (1956–1980), lead singer ofpost-punk band Joy Division. The screenplay written by Matt Greenhalgh is based on the book Touching from a Distance, by Curtis’s widow, Deborah, who is also a co-producer of the film.”
This film was seriously moving and totally impressive given the actors actually played Joy Division’s songs during the performance scenes. If you’re a music buff like me, you’ll really love this biopic.
The film premiered at Cannes Film Festival which reminds me… The 20th Vancouver Queer Film Festival is starting later this week. Don’t forget to check it out! And keep an eye out for the folks at Super U. **A bumpy transition I know but hey, sometimes the mind is like that – scattered and all over the place. Besides its Monday. Enough said.
